Brazilian Authorities Thwart Antisemitic Terrorist Attacks

By Matis Glenn

Brazilian federal police identified and arrested terrorists who were planning on carrying out attacks against Jewish communities, according to The Brazilian Report.

Investigators determined that the terrorists were linked to the Lebanese Islamic terror group Hezbollah, and that they were actively recruiting new members.

Police raided 11 homes belonging to the suspects, in the states Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo, and the federal capital of Brasilia.

The Brazilian security services, together with the Mossad and its partners in the Israeli security community, alongside additional international security and enforcement agencies, have foiled a terrorist attack in Brazil, which had been planned by the Hezbollah terrorist organization, directed and financed by the Iranian regime. This was an extensive network that operated in additional countries.

The Israeli Mossad released a statement following the arrests: “The Mossad thanks the Brazilian security services for the arrest of a terrorist cell that was operated by Hezbollah in order to carry out an attack on Israeli and Jewish targets in Brazil.

“Given the backdrop of the war in Gaza against the Hamas terrorist organization, Hezbollah and the Iranian regime are continuing to operate around the world in order to attack Israeli, Jewish and Western targets.

“The Mossad is working, and will continue to work, to thwart these efforts wherever necessary, by various methods.”

Hezbollah has had roots in Brazil for some time. In 2014, a criminal organization based in Sau Paulo called the First Command of the Capital (PCC) was discovered to have had links to Hezbollah, and was referred to by U.S. officials as “the most powerful organized crime group in Brazil, and among the most powerful in the world.”

A May study by the Israelite Confederation of Brazil found that antisemitic incidents in schools had jumped by 760% between 2019 and 2022.
