Massive Yom Tov Food Distribution in Williamsburg

By Hamodia Staff

For the second time in two weeks, families in Williamsburg received Yom Tov provisions to help tide them over and infuse their Yom Tov with much needed supplies donated by a single philanthropist.

Before Rosh Hashanah, some 2500 families were provided with cases of various foods and other essentials totaling on the average of $1300 to $1400 each. On Wednesday evening, another massive distribution took place with approximately 3000 families receiving much needed goods to help them celebrate the upcoming Yom Tov with joy.

On Monday afternoon, families who felt they needed the extra help were supplied with a card which entitled them to pick up their cases that night. Each family received a case of grape juice, tuna, assorted dairy items from Mehadrin, yogurt, leben, American cheese, meat and poultry, eggs, nosh and chips, and numerous types of paper goods including plates, tableware, pans and foil.

If the family did not have a means to transport the cases home, the donor sponsored dozens of taxis and car services to help deliver the loads of provisions to the homes of the recipients.

The distribution was done under the auspices of the organization Heichal Yeshaya and was funded by the generosity of Reb Yoel Landua.
