BD’E — Rebbetzin Mindel (Margolies) Weiss

Hamodia is saddened to report the sudden petirah of Rebbetzin Mindel (Margulies) Weiss (née Halberstam) who succumbed on Shabbos, 18 Menachem Av/August 5 after suffering a heart attack. She was sixty six years old.

Rebbetzin Mindel was born to her illustrious parents, Harav and Rebbetzin Tzvi Halberstam, the Rudnicker Rav of Los Angeles. She was married to Harav Menachem Mendel Margulies, zt”l, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Gedolah Torah Temimah.

Rebbetzin Mindel was a longtime principal at Satmar Girls School in Boro Park, where she was renowned as a mechaneches who inspired many students and teachers for many years.

For several decades, she was the efficient office manager at the yeshiva’s summer home of Camp Silver Lake in Woodridge, NY, where in addition to assuring the office ran smoothly, she was in charge of ordering food and supplies, as well as administering the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) for the benefit of its participants.

Her husband, Harav Mendel, was tragically niftar at the height of the COVID epidemic three years ago.

On Lag Ba’omer, Rebbetzin Mindel got remarried to Harav Mordechai Leib Weiss, shlita, Rav of the Nusach Sefard minyan at A Country Place in Lakewood.

Her levayah was held Sunday at the Sigheter Beis Medrash in Boro Park, and kevurah was in Kiryas Yoel. Numerous bochurim and girls who gained from her kindness, expertise and chinuch mourned her loss.

She is survived by ybl”c her husband, Harav Mordechai Leib Weiss; her brother Harav Avraham Chaim Halberstam; her sisters Mrs. Hessy Horowitz, Mrs. Rochel Friedman, Mrs. Rivka Retek, and Mrs. Esther Steinwurzel; Her sons Harav Avraham Chaim, Rabbi Binyomin Yechezkel, Rabbi Baruch, and Rabbi Herschel; her daughters Mrs. Chavala Horowitz and Mrs. Rochel Leah Bernstein.
