Fire in Satmar Matzah Bakery on Locust St. Williamsburg; Baking Set to Resume
A fire in the Satmar (Rav Aharon) matzah bakery at 38 Locust St. in Williamsburg Tuesday morning did not result in any injuries, and the bakery announced it would resume operations in the afternoon.
FDNY received the call at 10:21 a.m., of a fire in the ceiling above of one the ovens. Twelve units and 60 fire personnel responded to the scene, bringing the fire under control at 11:05 a.m.
The cause has not yet been determined.
In an email, the bakery announced it would begin baking matzah again sometime Tuesday afternoon.
