Israeli Police seized eight stolen cars in the Shomron over the weekend.

In an initiative by patrol officers from the Modi’in Ilit station, the officers identified a vehicle that raised their suspicions on Motzoei Shabbos. When officers signaled the car to stop, it tried to escape. After a short distance, the suspect tried to escape on foot near the Palestinian village of Deir Qaddis, but was caught after a brief chase.

An examination of the car by police revealed that it had been stolen from the central Israel area a short time before.

Early Sunday morning, officers at Samaria’s Ariel station pulled over two vehicles for driving suspiciously. Both cars were Mazdas also stolen from central Israel shortly beforehand.

Police also seized what they called a Mazda-type vehicle in the village of Khirbet Abu Falah, near Ramallah, that had been stolen from the Yerushalayim area.

Palestinians often use stolen vehicles for terror attacks. During one counterterror raid on Dec. 29, 2022, IDF soldiers seized 21 stolen cars from the village of Ramadin, near Chevron.
