Terror Victim Dies Eight Months After Attack in Elad

Shimon Ma’atuf, Hy”d, a security guard who was wounded in a terror attack eight months ago succumbed to his wounds on Wednesday night.
Two Palestinians armed with axes attacked Israelis at a park in Elad. Three other Israelis were killed and another three were wounded in the May 5, 2022, attack.
Maatuf fired at one of the terrorists before being hit in the head by an axe. His daughter, Aviva Hallel, told reporters that Maatuf “suffered for the past eight months” as infections complicated his treatment.
Also killed in the attack were Yonatan Chavakuk, Boaz Gol and Oren Ben-Yiftach, Hy”d. They and Ma’atuf left behind 22 orphans.
The terrorists, Assad Yussef Al-Rafa’i and Tzabhi Imad Abu Shakir, were captured after a manhunt. Both were from the village of Rummanah, near Jenin.
Ma’atuf will be laid to rest at Moshav Bareket on Thursday afternoon. He is survived by six children, and 13 grandchildren.
