Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin on Wednesday held a security consultation with top police brass, including Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai, ahead of the swearing-in of the new government scheduled for Thursday, his office said in a statement.

According to the Walla news site, Levin fears that those opposed to the new right-wing government could storm the Knesset in protest.

Levin reportedly told Shabtai that he fears a “Capitol invasion 2,” a reference to the storming of the Capitol in Washington two years ago by supporters of former President Donald Trump who refused to accept his election loss.

Knesset Speaker-designate Amir Ohana and the next coalition chairman Ofir Katz also attended the meeting, as Katz is set to serve as interim Speaker during the plenary session on Thursday.

Levin expressed concerns that opponents of the incoming government would break into the Knesset building or block access roads to the building. Ohana also raised concerns that MKs could participate in protests, stressing that they should be allowed to demonstrate while following the law.
