BROOKLYN — The NYPD and Crown Heights Shomrim are looking for a burglar who stole tefillin and money from Crown Heights’s “613 Shul.”

The burglary occurred around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, December 18, at the shul located in an apartment building at 613 East New York Avenue, near Kingston Avenue.

The suspect stole a bag with Rashi and Rebbeinu Tam tefillin, and money from a pushke. He also stole a package from the building.

The owner of the tefillin, Rabbi Shlomie Hecht, told Hamodia he is “hoping for a post-Chanukah miracle” that the tefillin will be found.
