YERUSHALAYIM – The IDF’s counter-terrorism campaign conducted over the past year have resulted in thwarting some 500 terror attacks, the military said on Monday.

According to data furnished by Military Intelligence, the army arrested more than 2,500 suspects in Yehuda and Shomron since late March, following a series of horrific terror attacks in Bnei Brak, Tel Aviv, Haifa and other cities.

Out of 3,000 individual arrest operations, 550 of them involved special forces. At least 250 weapons were seized in the operations.

However, the army acknowledged that the operations did not completely wipe out terrorist activity. At least 281 shooting attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers were recorded in Yehuda and Shomron, compared to 91 last year.

Since the beginning of the year, 31 Israelis died in those attacks.

Overall, the number of terror incidents (including stone and explosive hurling at Israeli civilians) reached 3,382 since the beginning of the year.

The report also noted a rise in attacks against Palestinians – 838 incidents this year compared to 446 last year. Of those, 14 were described as “serious,” where Palestinians were injured or property was seriously damaged.
