Bobov Leadership Endorses Dan Goldman for NY-10

By Matis Glenn

BORO PARK — Congressional candidate Dan Goldman was endorsed by Bobov community leadership on Sunday, in the first endorsement from a major Orthodox group of a candidate in the primary race for Congressional District 10.

“With NY10 being a progressive leaning district, all top tier candidates have strong progressive stances,” Rabbi Joel Rosenfeld, a Bobov community leader said in a statement. “but one of them stood out as someone who our community can work with, and benefit from, once elected to Congress. Dan Goldman, who has strong Orthodox Jewish family ties, understands our needs and is a strong supporter of the Orthodox Jewish community,” the statement continued. Goldman’s wife is Modern Orthodox.

“I am honored to have the support of leaders in the Bobov community,” Goldman said in a statement to Hamodia. “My family and I have a deep connection with the Orthodox Jewish community and I look forward to serving as their voice in Congress.”

The open House of Representatives seat in the newly redrawn district includes Boro Park from below 14th Avenue.

Goldman, a 46-year old Democrat, rose to fame as the lead prosecutor for House Democrats in the first impeachment trial of then-President Donald Trump, over allegations that Trump abused his power for personal gain in his dealings with Ukraine. Goldman previously served for 10 years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York.

The primary will be held on August 23. Early voting has already started, and will continue until August 21.
