Boro Park Home Burglarized on Shabbos, $16k Stolen

A home in Boro Park was robbed over Shabbos in broad daylight, NYPD tells Hamodia.

A family who spent Shabbos in the Catskills came home to discover $16,000 in cash and jewelry had been stolen from their home, on 18th Avenue and 53rd Street.

Images taken by Shomrim show that the thief pried open the basement door to the house, and managed to break open a safe containing the jewelry.

The theft took place between 9am and 1pm. At this time there is no description of the suspect. Police and Shomrim are investigating and searching through available surveillance footage.

Shomrim released an advisory message to help people avoid theft, especially when away from home.
