BD’E – Harav Chaim Zev Malinowitz, Zt”l

Hamodia is saddened to report the sudden petirah of Harav Chaim Zev Malinowitz, zt”l, a talmid chachom with broad ranging knowledge is all aspects of Torah. He was niftar suddenly on Thursday at age 67.

Rav Malinowitz was a talmid of Harav Abba Berman, zt”l in the early days of Yeshiva Iyun Hatalmud, when it was still situated in Monsey, NY.

As a relatively young age, he received semichah of yoreh yoreh yadin yadin from Hagaon Harav Moshe Feinstein, zt”l, and went on to serve as a dayan and rosh kollel in Monsey. In the early 1990s, he joined the staff of Artscroll and served as General Editor of the Schottenstein Shas together with ybl”c Harav Yisrael Simchah Schorr. At that time, he transferred his residence to Eretz Yisrael.

In 2002, he was hired as Rav by Kehillas Beis Tefillah Yonah Avraham, in Ramat Beit Shemesh, Israel. The kehillah, which was established for English speaking olim, experienced tremendous growth under his leadership. They built an impressive structure to house the growing kehillah in 2004.

Kevurah will take place in Rechovot.
