The state submitted a request Monday to the High Court to postpone the deadline for the military draft law until January 2, 2020 – three months after the swearing in of the next government.

Extending the current law – which was supposed to expire on July 28, three months after the swearing in of the current government – would allow additional time to work on amendments to the law and be able to pass it in Knesset. An interim government can’t pass any laws.
