BD”E: Rebbetzin Leah Rosenberg, A”h

YERUSHALAYIM

Rebbetzin Leah Rosenberg, wife of Hagaon Harav Baruch Rosenberg, zt”l, Rosh Yeshivah, Yeshivas Slabodka, and daughter of Hagaon Harav Avraham Grodzinsky, Hy”d, passed away Sunday morning in Bnei Brak.

She was 91 at her passing, after a short illness.

She was born in 5688/1928, in Slabodka, Lithuania, to her illustrious father, Harav Avraham Grodzinsky, Hy”d, famed Mashgiach of Yeshivas Slabodka, who was appointed to the yeshivah after the Alter of Slabodka, Harav Nosson Tzvi Finkel, zt”l, moved to Eretz Yisrael.

Harav Avraham, Hy”d, was murdered in the Holocaust. His children miraculously survived the war. In the beginning of the war, Leah was handed to a non-Jewish family for the duration of the war. After the war, she was adopted by Hagaon Harav Yitzchak Eizik Sher, zt”l, Rosh HaYeshivah, Yeshivas Slabodka.

In 5711/1951, she married Harav Baruch Rosenberg, zt”l. Their wedding was held in the Slabodka yeshivah. Their mesader kiddushin was Hagaon Harav Eliezer Yehudah Finkel, zt”l, Rosh Yeshivah, Yeshivas Mir-Yerushalayim.

Rebbetzin Rosenberg devoted herself to the learning of her husband, that he should be able to learn unhindered. Their home was seen by many as a place where they could receive support and encouragement.

Harav Baruch Rosenberg was niftar in 5764/2004.

She is survived by her only son, Harav Avraham, and her daughters, Rebbetzin Rochel, married to Harav Ben Zion Silber of Yerusalayim; and Rebbetzin Chasyah, married to Harav Aharon Zucker of Bnei Brak.

She is also survived by her brother, Harav Yitzchak Grodzinsky.

Rebbetzin Rosenberg was buried next to her husband in the Ponevez cemetery in Bnei Brak.
