Suspect Arrested After Crown Heights Attack

An arrest was made Friday after the vicious assault on a Jewish man in Crown Heights last Shabbos.

James Vincent, 40, of the Bronx was taken into custody Friday and has been charged with several felonies and misdemeanors – such as assault, strangulation, menacing and criminal obstruction of breathing – including a number of hate-crimes charges.

Last Shabbos, Menachem Moskowitz was severely beaten and nearly choked to death while walking home after davening at Kingsbrook Jewish Hospital. This was the second consecutive Shabbos in which an anti-Semitic attack occurred in Crown Heights.

A spurt in anti-Semitic incidents in Crown Heights has Jews worried, with some calling on the police department to step up patrols in the neighborhood where Jewish and African-American communities have been living side by side uneasily for decades.
