Pricey Parking Spot In Brooklyn on the Market for $300,000
A parking space at a garage in Park Slope is on the market for $300,000, beating the record of the last one there that sold for $280,000.
“That’s more than what my parents paid for their house,” said Julie Hollar, a neighborhood resident.
Julia Kite of the advocacy group Transportation Alternatives says it’s also around the current price of a condo in other parts of Brooklyn.
“They are really becoming … investment opportunities,” Kite said, “and it’s a shame because it robs people who live in Park Slope of a place to keep their car.”
But it’s the new normal since developers tore down a 300-space garage to build new homes.
“This is the Brooklyn we live in today,” Hollar said.
