Shas Yidden Make Eighth Annual Siyum

For the eighth year in a row, the 21 members of the Shas Yidden project finished the whole of Shas.

Shas Yidden project is based in Bet Shemesh, Israel, under the leadership of the Nasi Harav Avrohom Eisen, the Pozna Rov, and the Rosh Hakollel Harav Moshe Isaac Samet.

This year, like last year, the siyum was held in the home of Hagaon Harav Chaim Kanievsky, shlita, in memory of Rebbetzin Bas Sheva, a”h, after the avreichim finished, in one year, the whole of Shas – with at least five chazaros.

Before the siyum, Rav Chaim tested the avreichim with she’eilos from the whole of Shas, and after the siyum he started to sing “Mah ahavti Sorasecha.”

As he has done in the past, Harav David Abuchatzeira, shlita, sent two cases of wine in honor of the siyum.

As the talmidei chachamim left Rav Chaim’s home, Harav Yitzchok Shaul Kanievsky remarked to the Rosh Hakollel that his father has tested many talmidei chachamim on Shas, but none of them knew Shas as well as your Shas Yidden …

They also visited the homes of Hagaon Harav Gershon Edelstein, shlita, and Hagaon Harav Dov Landau, shlita.

The avreichim take monthly written tests on around 225 blatt, after half year are tested on 1,350 blatt, and then comes the annual test of 2,711 blatt.

By now, every avreich has mastered Shas by heart, two are on the way to also knowing every Rashi in Shas by heart, and one other, all the Tosafos.

The youngest in the group is an 18-year-old chassan who has finished Shas six times.

At a separate siyum haShas attended by the avreichim, their wives and parents, Harav Eisen paid special tribute to the wives of the avreichim.

“It is certainly not easy to run a home with a large family while your husbands are engaged in such a program,” he said. “Your encouraging them as they devote themselves to completing eight blatt a day with another four chazaros, adding up to 40 blatt a day, their hatzlachah and zechus is yours, too.”

Rav Eisen then presented each of the ladies with a gift and an envelope.
