An Israeli soldier was moderately wounded Friday night by an Arab terrorist at the Kalandiya crossing near Yerushalayim. The Arab approached the soldier at the border crossing and pulled out a knife, quickly stabbing the soldier. Several other soldiers, reacting quickly, shot and killed the terrorist.

Also on Friday, soldiers arrested another suspected terrorist at the Kalandiya crossing. The detainee, an Israeli citizen, is a resident of the Arab town of Abu Ghosh. She is suspected of planning to carry out a terror attack in Israel.

The IDF announced that a general closure on Yehudah, Shomron and Gaza will be in effect beginning Motzoei Shabbos at midnight and continuing through the end of Rosh Hashanah. All permits for entry into Israel by residents of the Palestinian Authority are suspended. PA residents will only be allowed to cross checkpoints for medical emergencies and special circumstances.
