Renovated 18th Ave. Park Reopening On Tuesday
After more than fifteen months of work, the $7.25 million renovation of the 18th Avenue Park is over and it will officially reopen this coming Tuesday.
Councilman David Greenfield is inviting the entire community to join him at the park at 11:00 Tuesday morning to officially open the gates of the new park.
“Improving the 18th Avenue Park was particularly personal for me,” Greenfield said. “I used to play in that park when I was growing up, and until I took it on, most of the park had been sadly neglected for over 30 years.”
Improvements to the park include new baseball, basketball and handball courts, a new, larger playground with additional swingsets, and a renovated seating area with new benches and improved lighting.
“Now that the renovations are complete, I believe the 18th Avenue Park is the most beautiful park in southern Brooklyn,” Greenfield said. “I can’t wait to take my children to play there, and I hope everyone in our community will come out for the opening on Tuesday to enjoy our beautiful new park.”
