Turkey Thanks Israel for Support During Coup Attempt
A Turkish official has assured Israel that the coup attempt will not affect bilateral relations and thanked Israel for its expression of support during the crisis,
The Times of Israel reported on Monday, quoting a senior Israeli official.
The Israeli official said an unnamed senior Turkish figure thanked him for Israel’s “messages” during the tumultuous events over the wewekend.
In public at least, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was circumspect about the events in Turkey, saying only that “Israel and Turkey agreed on reconciliation, and we assume that this process will continue regardless of events over the weekend.”
After the danger of the coup had passed, did Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon say: “Israel respects the democratic process in Turkey and looks forward to the continuation of the reconciliation process between Turkey and Israel.”
