New York state is making it easier to renew your vehicle registration.
Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration announced Wednesday that rather than filling out a form at the Department of Motor Vehicles, owners can now simply show a state picture ID to a DMV staffer and then complete the process on a touchscreen. Alternatively, vehicle owners can ask a DMV staffer to look up their picture in the state’s database.
The change is intended to save time and reduce waits at state DMV offices.
DMV Executive Deputy Commissioner Terri Egan says many owners needed 10 to 15 minutes just to fill out the renewal form.
