The Defense Ministry has upgraded security at some forty junctions around the country, the majority of which had terror attacks in recent months.

Among the locations which were reinforced: the Elias intersection at Kiryat Arba, where a new protective structure saved civilians from a terror attack last Friday; the Gush Etzion junction; and the intersection of Alon Shvut, where three teenagers were kidnapped in 2014.

Dozens of other transit points are also being reinforced in Yehudah and Shomron, which have been targets for the ramming, knifing and shooting of both soldiers and civilians. On Tuesday, work began on security upgrades at five locations in Tapuach.

Included in the upgrade: the installation of steel pylons and newly developed shock absorbing materials in the event of car rammings, and improved lighting.
