Survey: Nine Out of 10 Families Happy With Pre-K Program

NEW YORK (AP) —

Nine out of 10 parents of New York City pre-kindergarten students like the program, according to a survey released Wednesday, with 92 percent rating their child’s program as good or excellent and 83 percent said their child learned “a lot.”

Universal pre-K was Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio’s signature issue when he ran for mayor in 2013. More than 68,000 children are enrolled in pre-K this year.

The city has extended the pre-K application deadline for fall 2016 from March 4 to March 9.
