Yerushalayim Mayor Meets With Askanim in NY

Yerushalayim Mayor Nir Barkat, on a visit to New York this week, met with a group of askanim and communal leaders in Manhattan.

The meeting, held at the office of Shlomo Werdiger, chairman of Agudath Israel of America, included Howard Friedman, former president and chairman of the board of AIPAC; philanthropist George Klein; Rabbi Aaron Kotler, President of Bais Medrash Govoha; Ruth Lichtenstein, publisher of Hamodia; Agudah trustees Dr. David Diamond, Chaskel Bennett, Leon Goldenberg, Ralph Herzka and Leon Melohn; and Rabbi Chaim Dovid Zwiebel, Executive Vice President of Agudath Israel of America.

The mayor shared information about the current situation in Yerushalayim, and was optimistic that, b’ezras Hashem, the challenges will be overcome.

He discussed the security situation and other issues important to the Jews of Yerushalayim.
