Felder and Hikind Condemn Flag Burning Event

NEW YORK -

An event scheduled to take place in a Brooklyn Park, billed as “Burn American Flags,” drew harsh condemnations from local politicians.

“I join my colleague, Senator Marty Golden, in calling upon Mayor Bill de Blasio, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton and Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver to immediately arrest any “DisarmNYPD” protesters who attend tonight’s unlawful event and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. They do not have a permit. These anarchists must abide by the law just like anyone else,” said State Senator Simcha Felder.

The small renegade group has an announced goal of disarming the city’s law enforcement officials and cites the recent shooting in Charleston as the impetus for its demonstration. “This is just a sick effort to get negative attention,” said Assemblyman Hikind. “Even the name of this group is disgusting. The last thing that we need in the borough of Brooklyn or, for that matter, the City of New York, is people purposely undermining the police.”
