N.J.’s Longest-Serving Mayor Dies

Gerry Calabrese, who as mayor of Cliffside Park for the past 50 years was believed to be New Jersey’s longest-serving mayor, died Monday. He was 90.

Calabrese was a Democrat who was first elected as the Bergen County community’s chief executive in 1959. He had held the job continuously since 1965. His son, Thomas Calabrese, is Cliffside Park’s borough council president and acting mayor.
