Anti-Casino Group Urges NY Not to Grant a 4th License
A group opposed to casinos in New York state on Monday urged state gambling officials not to grant a license to a facility in the state’s Southern Tier.
The Coalition Against Gambling in New York wrote to a state Gaming Commission official to say casinos will be a “detriment” to residents and the state as a whole, adding that there’s no reason to add a fourth casino in the Southern Tier.
Last month three casino projects were approved in the Catskills, Schenectady and the Finger Lakes. Leaders in the Southern Tier objected, and Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he would ask the Gaming Commission to reopen the bidding process to allow for a Southern Tier casino.
