(Chicago Tribune/MCT) —

Beam Suntory Inc. on Tuesday said that Mauricio Restrepo, an executive with a dozen years in the alcoholic-drinks industry, is set to join the company as its chief financial officer later this year.

Restrepo, 50, is heading to Beam Suntory from SABMiller, where he is regional finance director for the brewer’s European business. Restrepo’s prior roles at SABMiller include serving as CFO of the Latin America business, Beam Suntory said.

Illinois-based Beam Inc., the maker of drinks such as Jim Beam bourbon, was acquired by Japan’s Suntory Holdings Limited in April and is now called Beam Suntory Inc. Vincent Ambrosino, who joined Beam in 2013, has served as its interim CFO since April. Ambrosino is expected to remain at the company as a senior leader in its global finance team, Beam Suntory said.

Restrepo plans to join Beam Suntory in the fall and will get a seat on the Beam Suntory board, the company said.
