Wire Thief Dies After Being Shocked By 35K Volts

PERRY, N.Y.

A man trying to steal copper wire from a utility substation died when he was shocked by a 35,000-volt power line, WHEC reported. Andrew Mower and another man broke into a NYSEG site last Thursday, climbed onto a transformer and grabbed a 35,000-volt line. He was thrown to the ground and his clothing burst into flames.
