Experts Monitor Humpback Whale Off NYC

Experts are monitoring a humpback whale videotaped in the waters near New York City by a boater last week, the Staten Island Advance reported. Mendy Garron of the Marine Mammal Response Program says the video indicates the whale was “logging,” or sleep-floating at the surface. A higher-than-usual number of boat collisions with whales have been reported along the coast.
