NY Fire Union Official: We Could Have Saved Cop

NEW YORK (AP) -

A Fire Department union official says poor communication was a factor in a cop’s death at a Coney Island fire last month, WNYC reported. Richard Alles said that firefighters didn’t initially know that two police officers were trapped at the fire scene. Dennis Guerra died and Rosa Rodriguez was released from the hospital last week. Alles said Guerra could have survived if firefighters had known he was on the fire floor. A FDNY spokesman called it “pure speculation.”
