Jayden, Sophia Are Top Names for NYC Babies
New York is still Jayden’s town, but Sophia has edged Isabella as the most popular girls’ name for babies born in the city, according to the newest rankings. Out of 123,231 infants born citywide in 2012, 200 more than in 2011, Jayden continues being tops for boys. But Isabella — the leading girls’ name for the last three years — is now number two. Overall, the top 10 for each gender hasn’t changed much. Ava joined the girls’ side, and “Sofia” with an “f” dropped off.
