NYC Ads Feature Family Members of Crash Victims
New York City is launching an ad campaign targeting reckless driving that features family members of the victims. The Department of Transportation ads warn motorists that “reckless driving kills.” They’re going up on bus shelters and billboards. One ad features a woman holding a photo of her 14-year-old son in a graduation cap. She says he was killed while riding his bike and would have been 23 this year. The city had 274 traffic deaths last year, the highest since 2008, and 148 pedestrians were killed.
