Former Lawmaker to Fill Vacant Assembly Seat
Democratic party officials in northern New Jersey have tapped a former state lawmaker to fill a state Assembly seat recently vacated by a mother who moved to help her son and daughter-in-law with their new baby.
Paul Contillo of Paramus was unanimously chosen Sunday by Democratic committee members to succeed Connie Wagner, who held the seat since 2007. The 84-year-old Contillo will fill the seat through the end of the year. He served in the Assembly from 1973-1979 and in the state Senate from 1983-1991.
