Manager Helped Stage Robbery at Own Store

WATCHUNG, N.J. (AP) -

A video game store manager conspired with two others to fake a robbery at his business last week.

Ethan Hendrix, 22, on Thursday told police that a black male entered his Watchung store, pointed a handgun at him, and took an undisclosed amount of cash and electronics, hitting him in the head with the gun as he left. But when police reviewed the store security video footage, they noticed the robbers interacting with Hendrix “in an apparently familiar manner inside the store.”

A search of Hendrix’s residence uncovered evidence related to the robbery. Police say the suspects divided the proceeds from the robbery with Hendrix there. All three were charged.
