Verizon Launches New Crop of Droid Phones
Verizon Wireless is launching three new Droid smartphones made by Google’s Motorola unit.
The nation’s No. 1 wireless carrier said Tuesday that the three phones will be the Droid Mini for $100, the Droid Ultra for $200 and the Droid Maxx for $300.
Each of the three models has a 10-megapixel camera.
Verizon says the Mini will be available on Aug. 29. Its compact design features a 4.3-inch, high definition screen. The Ultra and the Maxx will go on sale Aug. 20. The Ultra is less than 7.2 millimeters thin and has a 5-inch high definition display. The Maxx has a similar display and can charge wirelessly. Verizon says it can run for nearly two days on a charge.
The first Droid launched in 2009. Google Inc. bought Motorola last year.
