Forecasters Predict Less Snow for Some Parts of Northeast
Forecasters are now predicting less snow as a weekend storm bears down on the Northeast, but some parts could still see several inches of accumulation on the first day of spring.
The National Weather Service says parts of Massachusetts, including Boston and Cape Cod, and parts of Rhode Island could get 4 to 8 inches of snow Sunday through Monday. Four to 7 inches are predicted for Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and parts of Connecticut.
Philadelphia and New York could get 1 to 2 inches.
Forecasters in northern New England say accumulation could be 2 inches on the coast and less inland as the storm moves out to sea.
The Northeast has had a relatively tame winter, with mild temperatures in mid-Atlantic cities and lower-than-average snowfall in New England.
