Judge Refuses to Delay Sen. Malcolm Smith’s Trial
A New York state senator accused of corruption won’t be able to delay his trial until after his primary, a federal judge said Monday, setting the trial for Malcolm Smith, a Queens Democrat, to June 2, The Associated Press reported. Smith will be tried with former Councilman Daniel Halloran and former Queens Republican leader Vincent Tabone for a scheme to get Smith the GOP mayoral line last year.
