NYC Judge to Review Files on Ex-Homicide Detective

NEW YORK (AP) —

The Brooklyn district attorney’s office has been ordered to produce any documents on allegations of wrongdoing by a former homicide detective whose old cases are under review.

A state judge will examine the paperwork on Louis Scarcella, in a case that began earlier this year when a judge threw out a man’s conviction for killing Rabbi Chatzkel Wercberger, Hy”d, after he had served 20 years. It will be the first time anyone outside the DA’s office will see the files.
