AliExpress to Launch New Parcel Center in Tel Aviv’s Dizengoff

By Aryeh Stern

AliExpress, a prominent online shopping platform, is set to inaugurate a new package distribution center in Tel Aviv, located within the Dizengoff Center shopping mall. Named Parcel Home, this facility spans 80 square meters and is slated to open its doors within the next two weeks, initially catering to several hundred package recipients across the country.

Initially staff-operated, the center will soon transition to automated operations via a dedicated application, facilitating seamless service for thousands of customers. Upon placing an order on AliExpress, consumers will retrieve their packages at Parcel Home by scanning a unique barcode through the app, ensuring secure access to their parcels.

Cainiao, AliExpress’s logistics arm, recently sent senior executives to Israel to oversee this initiative, underscoring the company’s strategic commitment to enhancing its operational footprint in the region. While the exact motives behind this expansion remain undisclosed, industry watchers speculate it may be a preemptive move to fortify AliExpress’s market dominance amid growing competition from rivals like Temu and SHEIN, particularly in the fashion sector where SHEIN has made significant inroads.

AliExpress’s decision to establish Parcel Home does not signify a comprehensive replacement of existing delivery services in Israel, which include partnerships with local carriers such as Israel Post. With over 400 delivery points already in operation across the country, the new center aims to augment rather than replace these services. Future plans may see AliExpress opening additional distribution centers contingent upon the success of Parcel Home.
