Smotrich Criticizes Move to Increase Electricity for Gaza Desalination Plant

Work began Tuesday, under Israeli-Palestinian cooperation, to increase electric power to a Gaza desalination plant, enabling it to produce more water.
According to a Channel 12 report, citing a Defense Ministry document, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant referred to the work to increase water supply in the Strip as “a basic humanitarian need.”
However, the fact that Israel is facilitating reconstruction work in Gaza has angered some government ministers.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich expressed his frustration on social media: “We’ve lost it completely. We are rebuilding Gaza ourselves, before it has been demilitarized… Mr. Prime Minister, stop this folly.”
