Mrs. Adina Zahavi, a”h, a 41-year-old mother of eight who was critically injured in a fire early Sunday morning in Kochav Yaakov, has succumbed to her injuries.

Adina and her husband were working to get their children out of the apartment after the fire broke out. She sustained critical injuries while rescuing her children.

In total, 18 people were injured in the blaze. Two are in moderate condition, including an eight-year-old boy with 30% second-degree burns on his lower body, and a 48-year-old man who inhaled smoke.

Sixteen others were lightly injured, including four young people and 12 minors between the ages of one and 17.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the fire was caused by an electric bicycle charger left plugged in, which ignited near a sofa.

Magen David Adom paramedics evacuated the victims to Hadassah Ein Kerem and Shaare Zedek hospitals in Yerushalayim.
