I just want to share with the olam my personal experience with the kindness and caring of the Novominsker Rebbe, zt”l
I raised a son with developmental disabilities (he’s an adult today). I survived on the chessed of the wonderful high school girls who came to help me every day. This was the hour my other children and I breathed for the day.
When he got older, we decided that he needed male volunteers. It was impossible to find anyone willing to volunteer one hour Shabbos afternoon. Until we found two wonderful Novominsker talmidim who took Sruli to Pirchei every Shabbos for two years. (Pinny and Yanky — wherever you are — thanks again!)
When I received a tzedakah letter signed by the Novominsker Rebbe, I gladly sent in a check — and in addition a letter. I poured my heart out about our hardships with this son and how I got some help only from his yeshivah.
I was in for a wonderful surprise! Never did I expect to receive a reply written by the Rebbe himself! The fact that he took time off from his tightly-scheduled day was amazing. What a beautiful letter it was. What chizuk! It put a spring in my step and lifted my broken heart.
After reading all the beautiful articles now about the Rebbe, I can personally attest to the Rebbe’s compassion for the yechidim as well as his devotion to the klal.
You can be sure this letter is being treasured by me forever. We will sorely miss such a kind and caring manhig b’Yisrael.
Yehi zichro baruch.
