Here’s something to think about.
Many people advocate shopping online. They say they get the best prices, good service, great selection, etc. But when your children are making the rounds (on Main Street or 13th Avenue) asking to sell raffles and looking for prizes for their school, they are not going to contact Best Buy to ask them donate items, they will go to their local store.
On Purim, when your bachurim are collecting monies, you won’t see any CEOs of the big-box or department stores on their list. Nor will members of our community get help from the management of eBay when fundraising for a worthy cause.
A strong, supportive and close-knit community is key to our lifestyle.
