I was shocked when a principal told me that he asked a few people: If he would open a day camp would their children come? They answered no, their children don’t want to go to their school day camp.
To me this is a “wow” moment. We have to ask ourselves: Are our children running our lives? Why can’t people get a back bone and stand up to their children?
Our children should listen to their parents’ advice, like it says in the Torah! Kabed es avicha v’es imecha, not vice-versa. If the children don’t listen to you, maybe it’s time you work on being mechanech them to listen. It takes effort and time…. But it will pay big dividends.
