It was with pride that I read about your interview with my nephew Rabbi Leibish Lish (“If I Can Do It, They Can Do It,” Hamodia Prime, Jan. 1, 2020), which described his journey from his childhood as a yosom to his amazing accomplishments today. I was also gratified that he extolled the wonderful work that his namesake, my father, Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh (Leibish) Lisz, zt”l, and my brother Rabbi Yisroel Ber Lisz, z”l (Rabbi Leibish’s father), did to popularize Daf Yomi in America through creating shiurim in many places, making siyumim and recording tapes of 800 dapim of Gemara.
I feel it is only proper to remember the name of one person without whom none of this could have succeeded: my mother, Rebbetzin Chaya Lisz, a”h. Rebbetzin Lisz’s support, encouragement and help were major factors in this undertaking. In addition to my mother’s agreement that my father curtail his business obligations to focus on Daf Yomi tapes, she also checked every single tape that was sent out to make sure that it was duplicated correctly.
My mother’s yahrtzeit is on Rosh Chodesh Shevat. May this be an aliyah for the neshamah of Chaya bas Rabbi Yisroel Yitzchak HaCohen.
