Mishmeres HaSholom: Ask the Rav

Q: As a mother of a large family, bli ayin hara, I was blessed with some unusually lively children who occasionally cross acceptable boundaries with their antics. Often, I share my children’s chochmos with family and friends, and unburden myself about all the trouble they’ve made. In order to avoid lashon hara, I’d like to know if there are guidelines regarding what I am allowed to relate.

A: A mother may share her children’s chochmos and antics with others. It would seem, however, that behavior that is atypical of that of average children would be forbidden to relate. That is, unless you are asking for advice on dealing with the problems that crop up with boisterous children, and it is being related l’to’eles.
