Arabs Attack Yerushalayim City Council Member’s Home

Four firebombs were thrown overnight Thursday at the home of Yerushalayim City Council member and activist Aryeh King, who lives in a Jewish neighborhood on Har Hazeisim. One of the firebombs hit the terrace of his home, starting a small fire. “These are just four of the 200 bombs that have been thrown at me over the past eight years,” he said in a social media post.

King is known as a strong advocate for the redemption of Jewish property that was taken over by Arabs during the period of the Jordanian occupation of Yerushalayim between 1949 and 1967. He has worked with organizations to actualize title deeds held by Jews to properties in the Old City and other neighborhoods in the eastern part of the city.

In his post, King decried the fact that “here on the night after Holocaust Memorial Day, 80 years after that dark period in which millions of our brothers in Europe and North Africa were murdered just for being Jewish – and here in the capital of the Jewish state, 71 years after our declaration of independence – there are still those who seek to burn down the homes of Jews.” King filed a report with police, but he has done so many times, and police have yet to catch any of the culprits, he said.

Overnight Thursday, security officials said they arrested 5 wanted security suspects in other areas in Yehudah and Shomron. The suspects were wanted for participating in rioting and throwing stones and firebombs that endangered Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers. Several of the suspects were also charged with belonging to Hamas. All were being questioned on their activities by security forces.
