1,400 People Daven at Kever Yosef

Some 1,400 people visited Kever Yosef Tuesday night in honor of Chol Hamo’ed Pesach. They were accompanied security forces who fended off numerous Arab rioters who attempted to reach worshippers. Soldiers used anti-riot measures to hold back the mob. Arab sources claimed that one rioters was injured.

Arabs have vandalized and set fire to Kever Yosef numerous times since the signing of the Oslo Accords, most notably in 2000, 2003, 2008, and 2014. Between 2003 and 2009, the site remained desolate, until Israel and the PA reached an accord on refurbishing the site in 2010. Currently, Jews are allowed to visit Kever Yosef once a month – usually on Erev Rosh Chodesh – to daven.

Joining the group were five new Likud MKs – Uzi Dayan, Eti Atiya, Arik Kelner, Shlomo Kar’ie, and Idit Salman. Shomron Council head Yossi Dagan said that “the event is a very moving one, to see these five young representatives of the Knesset who, right before they their service, chose to daven here at Kever Yosef in the Shomron. This is a clear statement of support for our continued presence here. We are all praying for their success, as it will be the success of the Land of Israel.”
