Man Killed in Snowmobile Rollover Crash
MONTAGUE, N.Y. – A man’s life ended tragically when he was killed in a snowmobile crash, The Associated Press reported. Ryan Jesgarzewski, 24, failed to halt at a stop sign and collided with a snow bank on the side of the road. He was ejected from the snowmobile, which overturned on top of him.
Man Killed When His Clothes Get Caught by Passing Train
NEW YORK – A man was tragically killed Tuesday night when his clothes got caught on a passing train at Grand Central, The Associated Press reported. The 39-year-old was dragged down the platform and onto the tracks where he struck an electric power box.
NY Plans 6 Public Hearings on 2020 U.S. Census
ALBANY – State officials have scheduled a series of public hearings to discuss the upcoming federal Census and how to ensure all New Yorkers are counted, The Associated Press reported. The Complete Count Commission, appointed last month, will hold its only NYC meeting March 11 in the Bronx.
Student Injured When School Bus, Garbage Truck Collide
SEASIDE HEIGHTS, N.J. – A chool bus and garbage truck crashed Tuesday, leaving a 13-year-old boy with minor injuries, The Associated Press reported. The bus carrying 14 students was stopped at a red light when the truck rear-ended it.
Landfill Keeping New Air Quality Meter Busy
KEARNY, N.J. – The mayor of Kearny says a newly installed air quality meter is being kept busy by a nearby landfill, the Jersey Journal reported. The 100-acre Keegan Landfill emits stinky fumes that have resulted in over 200 complaints of hydrogen sulfide, a colorless gas that smells of rotten eggs.
Court Reverses Volunteer’s Benefits Rejection
TRENTON – A longtime volunteer firefighter shouldn’t have been denied disability benefits because she didn’t have a job, New Jersey’s Supreme Court ruled Tuesday, The Associated Press reported. Jennifer Kocanowski was denied benefits by lower courts since it was meant as a wage replacement.
